The Neurosurgical Oncology ward 7
The Neurosurgical Oncology ward 7
Neurosurgical Oncology ward 7 (endoscopic cranial base surgery and intracranial and extracranial communicated tumor center) is a diagnosis and treatment center with both microscopic transcranial and endoscopic transnasal/oral surgical treatment of complex cranial base diseases. The annual operation volume is more than 1100 sets, and the number and curative effect have reached the domestic leading and international first-class level. The center, led by Professor Pinan, Liu,focuses on the clinical treatment and basic research of neuroendoscopy in the cranial base lesions, the research of new technologies in the basic and clinical treatment of neurofibromatosis, the research of cognitive function in central nervous system lesions and the reconstruction of neural function. The department consists of neurosurgeons, neurooncologists and neuropsychologists, as well as clinical researchers and nursing staff. At present, there are 3 chief physicians, 7 deputy chief physicians/associate professors, 1 doctoral supervisor, 3 master supervisors, 37 beds and 2 clinical trial beds. Treatment of diseases including various parts of the intracranial tumors, especially the skull base and intracranial and extracranial communicatied tumors, such as pituitary tumors, craniopharyngioma, chordoma, chondroma, pterygopalatine fossa and cavernous sinus tumors, cerebrospinal fluid leakage and other surgical treatment. The scope of diagnosis and treatment covers complex lesions such as acoustic neuroma, olfactory neuroblastoma, orbital/ petrosus meningioma, jugular foramen and magnum tumors,
The Center has undertaken 11 national/provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, and is currently researching 1 international multi-center clinical drug trial and taking the lead in 1 domestic multi-center clinical trial. We participated in the compilation of more than 10 textbooks works such as "Anatomical Atlas of ventral skull Base Endoscopy", and led the formulation of "Pituitary tumor therapy Standard 2023 edition", which won Two Beijing Science and Technology Progress Awards. The project "Neuroendoscopy Minimally Invasive Treatment of skull base Lesions" won the second prize of Science and Technology Progress of the Ministry of Education in 2010. We established the first comprehensive diagnosis and treatment center for neurofibromatosis in China, and won the second prize of the 2022 Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Award for "Establishment and application of Type 2 neurofibromatosis clinical diagnosis and treatment system".
Based on the advantages of diagnosis and treatment technology, the department continues to develop and innovate, always taking the patient as the center, and constantly improving clinical managment and research levels to better serve patients as well as the society.
