Department of General Surgery
Department of General Surgery
The new campus of Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University, is located at NO.119 South 4th Ring Road West, FengTai District, Beijing, covering an area of more than 350,000 square meters, and is currently the most modern hospital in Beijing. Under the leadership of Professor Hongyi Zhang, the head of the department, the general surgery staff adheres to the principles of "science, standardization, innovation, and benevolence." The team serves patients wholeheartedly, cooperates with well-known domestic and foreign medical centers and experts, and establishes the entity MDT multidisciplinary system. We sincerely and diligently formulate diagnosis and treatment standards for a variety of complex diseases in general surgery, and establish an international medical consortium to lead the development of surgery through remote consultation and Internet and other technologies.
The Department of General Surgery of Beijing Tiantan Hospital mainly focuses on the minimally invasive treatment of hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases, sequential treatment of malignant tumors of hepatobiliary and pancreatic systems, "precision resection" of malignant tumors of the gastrointestinal system in digestive diseases, bariatric surgery for obesity and diabetes, and minimally invasive and scarless surgical treatment for thyroid tumors as its main clinical features. The application of a variety of advanced equipment and technologies such as 3D laparoscopy and "digital three-dimensional space (3D) technology" has relieved the pain of a large number of patients. The department has many doctoral supervisors and master's supervisors who have brought up many excellent young and middle-aged surgeons in recent years and have won more than ten national and provincial awards and published more than one hundred papers in international and domestic famous journals. The Department of General Surgery of Beijing Tiantan Hospital is the director of the teaching group of Capital Medical University and has been awarded excellent teaching awards every year. It is the chief member of the National Cancer Strategic Alliance for General Surgery. It has a unique treatment theory and system in the minimally invasive sequential treatment of tumors.
Department Overview
General Surgery Department Organizational Structure
The Department of General Surgery of Beijing Tiantan Hospital was established in 1956. It integrate medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research, and is affiliated to General Surgery and teaching department of Capital Medical University. The department has many professors, associate professors, postgraduate supervisors, chief physician, and trains many doctoral and master students every year. At the same time, it has undertaken the national fund project and the scientific research project from the municipal science commission. The department composes three sub-specialty groups: hepatobiliary, gastrointestinal, and thyroid & hernia surgery.
The hepatobiliary professional group carries out diagnosis and treatment projects including laparoscopic double-scope combined biliary tract surgery, laparoscopic segmental liver resection, LPD surgery for pancreatic tumors, standardized liver tumor surgery, mid-hepatic resection, HPD surgery, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, and cholelithotomy. minimally invasive interventional treatment of liver hemangioma and malignant tumors, radiofrequency ablation of tumors, etc.
The group of gastrointestinal surgery mainly carries out laparoscopic "precise" surgical treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the stomach and colorectum, combined two-scope for gastric and colorectal surgery, surgical treatment of various rectal and anal canal diseases, and surgical treatment of different abdominal wall hernias; In recent years, it also carries out laparoscopic surgical treatment of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and esophageal hiatal hernia.
We have held and participated in various academic conferences, and we are at the leading level among our peers.
The thyroid hernia group performs open and Scarless Thyroidectomy for benign and malignant thyroid diseases, cervical lymph node dissection, various types of abdominal wall hernia, simple and complex body surface tumor resection, etc.
Features of the department: advanced medical equipment + foreign exchange with famous experts
Minimally invasive treatment of hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases: The hepatobiliary group performs more than hundreds of minimally invasive surgeries such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic bile stone extraction, laparoscopic liver segmental resection and pancreatic tumor surgery with advanced 3D laparoscopic equipment every year. It also taken the lead in carrying out minimally invasive interventional therapy, targeted therapy, and ablation therapy for middle and late-stage tumors.
Features: minimally invasive, sequential and comprehensive treatment for malignant tumors of the hepatobiliary and pancreatic systems
Minimally invasive and sequential treatment of malignant tumors of the hepatobiliary and pancreatic system: Professor Hongyi Zhang, the department leader, jointly proposed and established the theoretical system of precise sequential treatment of primary liver cancer.
Features: "tailored and precise resection" of malignant tumors of the hepatobiliary and pancreatic systems
Utilize the current advanced "digital three-dimensional space (3D) technology" to digitally measure different types of hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignant tumors in three dimensions, 360° visual anatomical reconstruction, determine the variant structure of the hepatobiliary and pancreatic glands, calculate the volume of normal and diseased parts of the liver to achieve preoperative precision planning, and design a "tailor-made" surgical plan for patients. "To achieve precise preoperative planning, the team designs the surgical plan for the patient and preserves the normal physiological organs to the maximum extent. Based on the "digital three-dimensional space (3D) technology", the department has carried out surgical treatment of various complex and major malignant tumors of the hepatobiliary and pancreatic systems, including lumpectomy of liver segments, PD surgery, standardized hepatectomy, HPD surgery, interventional embolization chemotherapy of hepatic hemangioma and malignant tumors, radiofrequency ablation of liver tumors, etc., which has achieved advanced level clinically domestically and internationally.
Features: obesity and diabetes bariatric surgery
The laparoscopic "weight reduction treatment" for obesity, type 2 diabetes, surgical treatment of esophageal hiatal hernia, and laparoscopic "precise gastrointestinal tumor treatment" carried out by the gastrointestinal surgery group is at the top level in China and have held and participated in various academic conferences national and international for many times.
Features: minimally invasive and Scarless Thyroidectomy of thyroid tumors
Transoral thyroid surgery, as an emerging treatment, has the main advantages of free surgical scars on the body surface , relatively surgical short path and easily dealing with both lobes at the same time, and fully clearing the lymph nodes in the low central area. Our department is among the first batch of transoral thyroid surgeries in Beijing, this surgical technique has been recognized by medical staff and patients. In addition, it has relieved the trouble for more beauty-loving women who suffer from thyroid tumors.
Features: International expert communication group
In January 2019, our department held the "New TianTan Hospital, New General Surgery 2019 International Symposium on Hepatobiliary, and Pancreatic Surgery", which gathered nationally renowned professors of general surgery and prominent experts in various fields of general surgery in Beijing. Professor Qijian Gao, an internationally well-known expert in general surgery, participated in ward round and surgical operations and was appointed as "Distinguished Professor of General Surgery of Beijing TianTan Hospital".
